Pennsylvania oil and gas wells produced over 63.5 million barrels of water in 2020.
What happened to all of that water?
Reuse for operations accounted for over half.
Treatment at a processing facility accounted for another third.
Injection within disposal wells totaled ten percent.
Storage awaiting reuse or other processing was the majority of the remaining volumes.
Connecting the flow of water from the well to facilities shows an elaborate network of water treatment.
Of particular interest, maps highlight the transportation of individual operators across Pennsylvania.
This information is a small part of the data I am putting together for the PIOGATech – Water & Waste Management Training. An in-person event on August 18th in Wexford, PA. More information - https://pioga.org/event/piogatech-water-waste-2021/
